Health literacy and development of patient education materials

This presentation will describe 5 evidence based tips for designing effective patient education materials and will explain how to best use patient education materials in a consultaiton


Biography:

Kelly is a Senior Lecturer and Academic Program Director for Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales, Australia. She has more than decades of clinical experience as a renal dietitian. In 2018 she completed her PhD which focused on the impact of health literacy and cognitive impairment on dietary self-management in end stage kidney disease. She currently holds an NHMRC Translating Research Into Practice Fellowship to develop a new health literacy sensitive model of renal dietetic care. She is a member of the Kidney Health Australia CARI Executive Steering Committee and ANZSN Dialysis Advisory committee.
